Robert’s education journey was never straightforward. It was filled with starts and stops, often interrupted by financial constraints that made it difficult to remain in school. Even after completing Form 4, life at home offered little relief. Faced with limited opportunities, he made the bold decision to move to Nairobi in search of work, eventually taking up a job as a night guard.
Through Seed for Hope—the same organization that had supported him through high school—Robert was introduced to the Good Kenyan Foundation. He saw an opportunity to rewrite his story and seized it without hesitation. He applied, was accepted, and began a new chapter, this time with the hope of building something greater.
Despite the long, exhausting nights working in Kitengela and the hours spent commuting, Robert never missed a single class. He often slept in thematatu during transit, doing whatever it took to keep up. His consistency, work ethic, and humility quickly stood out. In the box-making class, he became known for his creativity and precision, earning admiration from both peers and trainers.
At the end of the three-month program, Robert was honored with a scholarship, awarded based on both his outstanding performance and a unanimous vote of confidence from his cohort. With this support, he enrolled in a Supply Chain Management course at the Kenya Institute of Professional Studies, taking yet another meaningful step toward his goals.
But Robert’s journey didn’t stop there.
Recognizing his talent and leadership, Good Kenyan offered him a role as Head of Production. What began with crafting beautiful boxes has grown into so much more. Today, Robert leads production operations, supports administrative work, and even facilitates training sessions at Regina Yego Girls Center.
His story is not just about personal progress – it’s about giving back. Robert leads with integrity, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of dignified, sustainable work. His presence inspires those around him, and his journey stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when talent, hard work, and opportunity align.
